Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Board of Trustees of the
Purpose
The Board of Trustees of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation shall develop and maintain national and international awareness of the important role played by Virginia in the creation of the United States through operations and programs at Jamestown Settlement, the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, and related research and educational activities; and to actively direct private sector efforts to increase tourism in the areas in which the Foundation has its museums.

Composition
A. The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, hereinafter referred to as the Foundation, is hereby continued and shall be deemed to be an institution of higher education within the meaning of ?? 23-3.1 and 23-9.2. The Foundation shall be administered by the Board of Trustees consisting of the following ex officio trustees: the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Speaker of the House of Delegates, President Pro Tempore of the Senate, Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, and the Secretary of Education. In addition, there shall be 12 members appointed by the Governor from the Commonwealth at large for four-year terms who shall be subject to confirmation by a majority of the members of each house of the General Assembly; eight members appointed by the Speaker of the House of Delegates from the membership thereof for terms concurrent with the terms for which they have been elected to office; four members appointed by the Senate Committee on Rules from the membership of the Senate for terms concurrent with the term for which they have been elected to office; five members annually elected by the Board of Trustees, some of whom may be nonresidents of the Commonwealth; and any and all chairmen emeriti elected by the Board of Trustees pursuant to ? 23-288. The president of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Inc. shall also serve as a member of the Board of Trustees. Nonresident members of the Board of Trustees shall serve at no expense to the Commonwealth. Appointments to fill vacancies shall be for the unexpired terms. The Board of Trustees shall elect a chairman, vice-chairman and such other officers as are deemed necessary. The chairman shall appoint seven or more members of the Board to constitute an executive committee, the membership of which shall include the chairman and vice-chairman.
